স্বাধীন বাংলাদেশে প্রথম জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচন হয়েছিল ১৯৭৩ সালের ৭ মার্চ। আর প্রথম অধিবেশন শুরু হয়েছিল ৭ এপ্রিল ১৯৭৩। স্বাধীন বাংলাদেশে ১৯৭৩ সালের ৭ এপ্রিল বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের নেতৃত্বে বাংলাদেশ জাতীয় সংসদের যাত্রা শুরু হয়। সে অনুযায়ী ৭ এপ্রিল ২০২৩ সালে ৫০ বছর পূর্ণ হলো জাতীয় সংসদের।
